Protest Poster Guide

Express yourself and follow these instructions to design your own protest poster. Your creative poster is great for in-person events or virtually through social media.

  1. Introduction
  2. Materials
  3. How to Participate

Start by deciding if you’ll make your poster during one of our poster making events or on your own. If you attend one of our events, we encourage you to have your materials ready during the event so that you can follow along as we make posters together. If you aren’t attending one of our events, feel free to follow these instructions and make your poster at your convenience.

Learn about Live Shackle Slaughter and why we’re protesting it here.

If you are not a volunteer with The Humane League, you can ask questions by reaching out to Field Organizer, Sydney Fox at sfox@thehumaneleague.org.

Choose your message. Consider that your poster could be seen by anyone from top decision-makers in the meat industry to families and people new to animal rights. Below are some ideas to get you started, but feel free to get creative!

  • True Horror Happens Off Screen
  • End Live Shackle Slaughter
  • COMPANY Stop Live Shackling Chickens!
  • Live Shackle Slaughter is a Nightmare
  • COMPANY my body is not a graveyard
  • Live Shackle Slaughter is a horror
  • Live Shackle Slaughter is scary

Design your poster. Have fun with the design! Just make sure that your poster is easy to read. Check out this link for tips on making protest posters.

Step 1. Gather your materials
Step 2. Write your message and design your poster

Take a well-lit photo of yourself with your sign. Please include your face and poster if possible. Don’t hesitate to have fun modeling and show em what you got 💃🕺

Share your selfie on social media. Tag @TheHumaneLeague and decision makers from this list will be inserted when we have it. Just make sure your account is set to public, not private.

Pro tip if you share your poster on Instagram: If you search “The Humane League” in Instagram’s story GIF section you will find THL stickers that you can add to your story.

Sign the photo release form and send your photo to sfox@thehumaneleague.org for your poster to be publicly displayed on this Changemaker Community Center website and in our virtual protest.

Step 3. Take a selfie with your work.
Step 4. Share your work on social media and tag @thehumaneleague

Share your poster in the Art+Activism Slack channel along with your experience making, sharing, or anything else about the virtual protest!
